August Volunteer Appreciation
On August 15, 2019, The Mosaic Center held a Volunteer Celebration at Keltys First Baptist church. Volunteers helping with the upcoming class (Class 29) came and learned about the different volunteer roles at The Mosaic Center. Class 29 marks the beginning of the 15th year of classes.
Board President Sheila Telford began the program, welcoming everyone and introducing the Board of Directors. Carolyn Tinkle, Board Parliamentarian and one of the founding “Mothers” of The Mosaic, shared stories of how The Mosaic Center came to be. Board Treasurer Daren Hamaker spoke of what’s happened over the last 10 years. Each staff member then shared about their position and all of the volunteer teams they work with, and what their role at The Mosaic Center is. Ashley Bratton, current Board Vice-President and President Elect, concluded the program. A light lunch was provided. It was a wonderful event; and the volunteers were so happy to learn about how essential their role is, as well as all of the other important roles at The Mosaic Center.
A special thanks to Keltys First Baptist Church for having us!
Class 29’s Graduation Ceremony
The Mosaic Center held the graduation ceremony for the women of Class 29 on Thursday, November 14, at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church. This incredible group of ladies worked hard over the last 12 weeks to complete their Job and Life Skills Program, and deserve to be celebrated! Mosaic Center staff and volunteers, former graduates, and family and friends of the graduates filled the beautiful sanctuary to witness the ceremony.
Father Ralph Morgan, St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, opened the ceremony in prayer. Ashley Bratton, Mosaic Center Board President, and Rebecca Reid, Mosaic Center Executive Director, shared encouragement of the amazing ways God is working through The Mosaic Center to support the women of Angelina County. The highlight of graduation was hearing from each graduate about her experience during the past 3 months of class. Some shared how they came to be at The Mosaic Center, and some shared about their most impactful classes, and all told of their plans for their next season of life. It was evident The Lord touched the hearts of all who attended as each student expressed that The Mosaic Center was so much more than a place to work on their Job Skills, but where they found help, hope and healing. After their time of sharing, the graduates gave a moving Expression of Praise, directed by Lisa Wise. Michelle Briley, Mosaic Center Board Vice President, concluded the ceremony with prayer. Guests were invited to join us across the courtyard for refreshments. The cold evening couldn’t keep away the warm sense of love and gratitude that radiated from the crowd as we celebrated all The Lord has done in the graduates’ lives!
A special thanks to St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, Father Ralph Morgan, Catherine Roberts, Mike Ramsey, the Mentor Team, Pete Smart, and Members of St. Cyprian’s for hosting graduation and the reception following.
